About the Experience

Escape into the peaceful landscapes of western Mauritius on a guided kayaking journey through the calm waters and two scenic branches of the Tamarin River.

Leave the movement of the coastline behind and enter the quieter world of the Tamarin River. Beginning where the river meets the ocean, paddle gently upstream as the water becomes calm and the landscape closes around you.

Tropical vegetation lines the riverbanks while some of western Mauritius’ most recognisable mountains rise in the distance. Rempart Mountain and Trois Mamelles frame one side of the landscape, with the distinctive silhouette of La Tourelle appearing on the other.

Follow your guide into the river’s two main branches and observe the changing scenery along the way. Local fishermen may be seen working beside the water, while moorhens, ducks, fruit bats and other wildlife sometimes appear among the trees and riverbanks.

Accessible to beginners and suitable for most fitness levels, this guided Tamarin River kayaking experience offers a refreshing opportunity to slow down, reconnect with nature and discover a peaceful side of Mauritius away from the island’s busier attractions.
